Roundtable discussion on the state and role of local media in connection with investments in Debrecen and Szeged
Location: Grand Café Szeged Date: 19 June 2025, 17:30
In Hungary there is strong political influence in the local press, few independent players. However, in many cities there are news sites, which contribute to local media diversity in a self-indulgent manner. Their role is particularly appreciated when they help you find out about divisive topics.
One of these major issues is the balance sheet of automotive investment in the countryside. Building car and battery factories offer long-term job opportunities, but they also raise a number of environmental and sustainability issues.
ĂĄ How does local media work in matters of national importance? What does local attachment mean for a national psychic? How can local publicity and journalism benefit from this situation?
Conversation participants: Csaba Sighesvári, Transparent Tamás Tóth Polgár, Debreciner . Moderator: Dániel Szűcs, editor-in-chief of Szegeder
