István Zoltán Szabó Neuromancia The question of technology in William Gibson's novels, essays and poetry Prae, 2025
István Szabó's book Neuromancia is focused on William Gibson's writings. The cyberpunk threshold is one of the most important breaks or mutations in the history of the dynamic network affecting the relationship between science-fi, layers and popular literature, which we cannot understand from a single approach route. The author puts Gibson's prose and essays into dialogue with Heidegger's technical concept, unfolds the reflections of Sprawl trilogy related to technical development; sensitively discusses how the reprogramming of the body alters the concept of man. The analysis of Gibson's basic work, the concept of Neuromance as a single deconstructive act, and one of the most inventive parts of the enterprise, will renew the routes of our access to the cult novel. For example, the element of the analysis map that, when reading Cyberpunk and the post-modern together, shows, on the one hand, that anomaly due to the practice of the division of literature is not the inherent property of the texts (in the field of the high-speed and the open-label field). On the other hand, while discussing paraspace, cyberspace and virtuality, the author concludes that the trilogy that launched the cyberpunk movement has more in common with the works of Proust, Burroughs and Pynchon than with the classics of science-fiction. Exciting insights like this can contribute to a pop culture research practice that is not or much less bound by aesthetic ideology in the preliminary position.
